Drinkin’ champagne on a choo-choo train

The train chug-a-chugs and so do I

It’s fricking freezing in here, Mr. Bigglesworth. February 21, 2008

Well, after months of reasonably mild winter weather, I guess Cincinnati’s about to be hit with a pretty decent winter storm (granted, most people around here consider two inches of snow to be epic… wusses), but we’re supposed to get consistent sleet until tomorrow afternoon and around a quarter inch of ice on the road. It’s already snowing out, so I’m sure I’m going to have a grand old time going home from work three hours from now. Guh.

Anyway, yesterday was Scott’s birthday (his dad’s, also) and he has been really into trying different wheat beers lately, so after work yesterday we went to the Cork ‘N Bottle (we have gotten into the habit of calling it “Cork ‘N Blork” because we’re drunks otherwise I get it mixed up with Crate and Barrel and it takes me five minutes to stammer out the name) and he picked out some different things to try and a couple of favorites as standbys. I decided to try some apricot ale and it was really good. He didn’t feel like going out once we got home, so we ordered a pizza, drank some beer and played Munchkin Cthulhu, which I had gotten him as a present. I wasn’t thinking about it at the time, but he got me From Beyond for my birthday, so we’ve pretty much exchanged H.P. Lovecraft-themed gifts this year, which, you know, creepy. I had made him a yellow cake from scratch on Thursday night but stupidly put it in a bundt pan so the dumb thing fell. The withered remains tasted good, though, so I’m going to re-make it (correctly) on Saturday and take it to a joint birthday party for Scott/his friend Raj/Raj’s roommate Steve. My friend Liz’s birthday is tomorrow, and we’re supposed to go out for that too, so I hope the weather is decent enough. According to what I’ve been hearing, I might be stuck in my house eating kidney beans out of a can.
